LAUNDROMAT SLOW CLAP

Brighton-based Laundromat (aka Toby Hayes) had been making music all over the world before settling in the famed seaside city. Pulled together after years of sonic exploration, 'Slow Clap' is the second single from the songwriter's debut EP Blue and was the first tune to capture Hayes artistic vision for the project. Citing influences from Kim Deal to Broadcast, Jaki Liebezeit and Madlib, there's also a whiff of St Vincent's crunchy, guitar-driven-pop on 'Slow Clap'. Centred around a jaunty guitar riff, a clean, motorik beat serves as a stable backdrop as Hayes' laissez-faire vocal melodies swoon and harmonise in all the right spots before trailing off just after the 2 minute mark as a tasteful guitar solo takes centre stage. Blue will arrive on the 10th of April via Brace Yourself Records. -Holly Mullineaux
